Press Release

A BEAUTIFUL REST DAY BY THE SEA FOR THE AFRICA ECO RACE

It was on the edge of the Dakhla lagoon, in the extreme south of Morocco, that the AFRICA ECO RACE caravan was set up on Sunday 23 October. After a gloomy morning, the sun appeared in the early afternoon to brighten up this well-deserved rest day after an intense week in Morocco.

This was the moment for the competitors to get some rest in and most importantly service their vehicles, by their own means for some or by their assistance team for others. It is also and above all an opportunity for organization team to prepare for the border passage into Mauritania, which will take place tomorrow, Monday 24th of October, early in the morning, to begin the second week of the race, which will be even longer, racing through extraordinary but sometimes difficult playground.

Finally, this break in Dakhla is a day of relaxation and conviviality which allows a return to civilization for the competitors, some of whom will receive family or friends.

Partners of the AFRICA ECO RACE also come to immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere of the rally through the visit of the bivouac where they exchange with the participants and discover the race vehicles often being fully serviced.

Tomorrow, the AFRICA ECO RACE will leave Morocco to enter Mauritania.

The schedule, a first link of 370 km to the border, then 59 km to reach the start of the 205 km long special stage to the Chami bivouac. A selective sector on a sandy track which will allow the competitors to start the second week without too many difficulties, except for the kilometers to be covered.
