The Africa Eco Race 2027 route map has finally been revealed
For this 18th edition, the adventure will once again head south, from Tangier to the legendary Lac Rose, crossing Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal. A route designed to reflect everything that defines the spirit of the Africa Eco Race: wide-open spaces, navigation, sand and stages where endurance will make all the difference.
Following its first departure from Tangier in 2026, the city will once again host the administrative and technical checks, ahead of the official start on January 24, 2027. Competitors will take on the prologue held on the municipal beach facing the Atlantic Ocean, which will determine the starting order for the first stage.
Morocco will truly launch the race with a succession of varied terrains, combining fast tracks, technical sections and navigation. A demanding opening section where finding the right pace from the very first kilometres will be essential.
In Mauritania, the rally will enter another dimension. Vast open spaces, endless dunes and long desert stages will take centre stage. A decisive part of the event, where navigation, mechanical management and endurance will once again prove essential.
Senegal will offer a third, completely different landscape from everything encountered before. Competitors will race through the African savannah, among the baobab trees, during a stage full of character.
Before reaching Lac Rose, they will then take on “La Plage”, the final special stage of the adventure. This iconic last section, just before the final podium, will no longer count towards the overall classification, but will bring the rally to a close in a setting that has become inseparable from the Africa Eco Race.
Modern Race, Historic, Raid: each category will experience the route in its own way, but all will share the same destination and the same adventure.
Three countries. Twelve stages. Three landscapes. One finish line.
The detailed route, including the kilometre breakdown and specific distances for the different categories, particularly Modern Race and Historic, will be revealed after the reconnaissance sessions, at the end of November.
