More than ever, the third edition of the AFRICA ECO RACE® is a
different event. By proposing the best of Africa, it suggests you
especially to share a state of mind, well anchored in the strong values
of the rally raid: simplicity, conviviality, authenticity and mutual
help. René Metge cares a lot for these principles and will not break the rule
this year. One more time, he will propose a fascinating route, which
will allow you to share his love for Africa. Between Europe and Dakar,
every competitor will live his own adventure and will be able to
appreciate the beauty of a continent, far from having unveiled all his
treasures...
”Having pleased the competitors of the first two editions, the philosophy of the route and the road-book will remain the same for the AFRICA ECO RACE® 2011.
Even if most of you know the areas we are going to cross in Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal, the way we shall approach them will change the vision that you could have and will give you the feeling you have never been there...
Our main goal is to propose a sporting and pleasant race, attractive for drivers, and a surprising navigation, which will give a headache to all the co-drivers… Moreover, they will have to show reflection and ideas as the route will often take place “hors-piste” in fabulous deserts of dunes … Those that we find only in Africa!
From the start to the finish, the special stages will be intense in driving and navigation but will allow not to arrive too…too late!!!
On the whole itinerary, we will try to organize the starts and finishes of stages at bivouacs to reduce at most the liaisons and make it easier for the service teams.
At the end of a stage, the satisfaction that the competitors could feel after having fun all day long… This is my real reward!”
